L'Ametlla del Vallès
The Vallès Oriental municipality is located between the valleys of the Congost River and the Tenes Spring, north of Granollers city, the capital of the region, in the southern part of Cingles de Bertí.
The surrounding municipalities are: Montmany-Figaró, la Garriga, les Franqueses del Vallès, Canovelles, Bigues i Riells and Santa Eulàlia de Ronçana.
The main road of access in L'Ametlla is C-17 (formally N-152), in the area known as the L'Ametlla Freeway, which is just a variant of road C-17 that avoids Granollers and la Garriga. The other roads that reach the town are local, like BV-1433, from l'Ametlla to Llerona, and BP-1432, from Sant Feliu de Codines to Llinars del Vallès. Also road BP-1439 has a stretch within the municipality that comes from Granollers and Canovelles, but is very narrow.
The town has a bus service available and its closest train station is in the neighboring la Garriga. There are also two stations in Granollers.
The total area of the L'Ametlla del Vallès municipality occupies 14'12 km2, where the maximum measurements from north to south are of 7'65 km and from east to west are of 3'95 km, clearly forming an elongated shape. Its terrain, flat with slight undulations in the southern part and located at 230 meters above sea level, goes up to Serrat de l'Ocata and Puig-Graciós, at 807 meters, which marks the northern boundary of the area, drained by the Ferrera Spring that flows from Tenes and is depleted.
The urban center marks the limit between the lower region, home to quite a number of large masias, and the wooded area or upper region, which consists of large urbanizations and the Serrat de l'Ocata housing complex. Built in 1860, its 19 houses are currently in ruins. The town, which is at an altitude of 321 meters, is on a slight slope intersected by the Llinars road in Sant Feliu de Codines and meets the Barcelona road in Puigcerdà. Another boundary of the municipality is marked by the Pig-Graciós road, which is paved up to the restaraunt Masia Can Sous and continues on for a short stretch. The road goes into Cingles de Bertí, toward the San Pere de Bertí church, Sant Miquel Sesperxes (Osona) and ends in the Sant Feliu de Codines road in Centelles.
In the municipality there are about 410 hectares of wooded area, consisting of mostly pine trees and also some oaks. Many of the old croplands have been transformed into garden surrounded homes, recreational centers, or sporting areas. The few that are left cultivate legumes, forages, olive trees, hazels, almond trees, and vineyards (although these are cultivated less and less over time), adding up to a total of 200 hectares.

La Garriga
La Garriga has been one of the main vehicles of citizen life. The first urban center developed near the area where, in the year 1400, King Martí l'Humà was cured. Even today, the thermal fountain commonly known as El Pou Calent, can be seen. It is located in Banys Street, between the two spas.
To speak of architecture in la Garriga is to speak primarily of modernism and specifically of the works of Raspall, the best representative of summer season architecture in modernism. He carried out an important urban development project that was promoted by outstanding members of Barcelona´s bourgeoisie in the beginning of 20th Century. We must mention, for its absolute greatness, the so-called Illa Raspall, declared a National Cultural Monument. The four houses that make up the Mansana Raspall represent all the characterizing elements of modernism.
We can also find the Villa Romana of Can Terrers, one of the most relevant Roman rural settlements in Catalonia that has also been declared a National Cultural Monument, and La Dona, an ancient parochial church with Roman and Gothic elements.
The climatic and environmental conditions of the municipality and its surrounding areas, also make la Garriga a privileged site. Its Boulevard, the presence of forests, fountains, vineyards, and trails allow us to discover the beauty within and around the town. A traditional place to spend the summer, the municipality has plenty of places of interest and areas of excellent environmental and atmospheric quality, which are very well known and appreciated.
Among the many activities that take place in la Garriga, there are some that deserve special recognition. Over time, it has attained a special status that has surpassed the local limits. The well-known "Botifarra de la Garriga" has always been of guaranteed maximum quality and the furnishing sector offers a vast display for the home with the quality and design that characterizes us. We must also mention the Boulevard, the Villa Romana, the Romanesc church of La Dona, the Santa Mª del Camí Hermitage, de Blancafort Mill, and the Rosanes fortress, that combined with the climatic and environmental conditions, make la Garriga a privileged place.
